Dear Member I hope that you are all well. For those of you who were fortunate enough to get away this summer, I do hope you had a good holiday.
St.Fagans
Picnic Day Out, 22nd August 2002.
A wonderful day was had by all who came on the St.Fagans trip. We had a beautiful sunny day and thanks to Tesco Bridgend and the Cooperative at Pyle, a lovely picnic. I do have some lovely photos in the office, for those who would like a copy, please give me a ring.
Moldovan Appeal C.W.U
Once again RSVP contributed to the Aid Convoy for the orphanages in Moldova. Roger Jones from the Communication Workers Union (C.W.U) is still away with the convoy at the moment; so Im not sure how the trip has gone for them. However, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the ladies from Nantyfyllon Day Centre, Anne Jones and her Brackla knitters, The Church Shop in Kenfig Hill, Pauline Williams, Sandra Cook, John & Gaynor Cuddihy, Betty Lingwood, Thelma Williams and anyone else who contributed to the appeal. I am really grateful and I know the children are too.
Attention Knitters
We now have a large supply of wool available for you. If anyone would like wool, please contact Pauline Williams the knitting organiser on 724673 and we can arrange to drop some off for you. Now that winter is approaching, we have again had requests for childrens knitted items, anything from 6 months to 6 years. We do have some patterns available, however, if you have your own that you prefer to use, please do. If you have a pattern that you think others may like to try, please contact Pauline.
School Volunteers
I hope you all enjoyed your summer break and have settled back into your schools. The feedback is still extremely positive, and if there are any members still awaiting a school or if any members (especially knitters) would like to be involved in our schools project, please contact me as soon as possible. We are looking for school help in Llangeinor, Bettws, Tondu and Blaengarw anyone interested WE NEED YOU!
I am delighted to announce that three of our RSVP members have been nominated for the Mayors Citizenship Awards this year. Congratulations to Mr John Cuddihy, Mrs Sandra Cook and Mrs Lena Bumford, who will be receiving their awards on October 11th, I truly am very proud!!
North Cornelly Credit Union
We have been asked by a lady from the credit union to mention to our members that they are looking for some help at North Cornelly. If anyone has a little time (less than 1 hr a week), please contact the main office on 729912 or Vikki Johnson on 871481.
And finally, On a sadder note, Im sorry to inform you all that I will be leaving RSVP on the 21st October 2002. This has been an extremely difficult decision to make, however, we all have to do these things in life to move on. I will be working on a new initiative in Llangeinor and I do hope that I will be able to keep in touch with as many of you as possible. At present there is no replacement for my post, although this is being worked on at the moment. Anyone needing any help after the 21st October please contact Martyn or Jo at the Cardiff office on 029 20 390477. Knitters will have the same contact Pauline Williams. I am going to have a lunch out with some of our members on Wednesday 16th October at the Greenacres Motel at North Cornelly, at about 12.30 1.00pm. I would love to see as many of you as possible before I leave, and I do hope that some of you will be able to make this day. If anyone needs a lift, please let me know, as I might be able to ask one of our members to collect you. Anyone that needs to speak to me please do so before the 21st. For everyone in schools or knitting, there is no change for you. RSVP will still be here in the Borough, however , there may not be a worker for a few weeks, but that will be covered by staff from our Cardiff Office.
Good Bye, Take Care and may you all continue your efforts for you communities. I do hope that RSVP goes from strength to strength in the Borough. The past two years have been wonderful and I thank you all.
